Let's make Simple but Delicious Korean Food

Many of Korean foods it take a long time, but I'd like to introduce 2 kinds of simple and easy
korean food that anybody can cook.

About Temple food

Korean Buddhism developed a unique concept on how food should be prepared, developing five precepts : the first forbidding harm to animal. In order to keep this precept Korean temples do not use animal products or even oils and fish, but only use vegetables. Among vegetables strong stimulants such as garlic, green onion, leek are avoided. It is because these kind of vegetables make one's mind stimulated.

Lotus flower Lantern Making

The lotus flower is a well-known symbol of Buddhism. This flower has two meanings.
First, the lotus flower blossoms in mud ponds, but it is not tainted and keeps its purity always. It is like Buddha and Bodhisattva, who lived in the world but remaind pure.
Second, it bears a flower and fruit at the same time. It reflects the law of cause and effect. Therefore, when Buddhists act in everyday life, they keep in mind that their actions are followed by results.

In the Temple

Buddhism exercised a far reaching influence on Korean culture throughout its long history. Every where in the country its invaluable heritage abides in buildings, sculptures, paintings, and handcraft works.

Hi. Welcome to Buddhist World

I am Eunmi, Joan is my english name and my buddhist name is Bubyeonwha. I accepted this name from a Monk. I have been working for the buddhist temple for around 10 years, and now I  am staying in the Philippines.

Many of my friends want to know what I do.
So, I'd like to introduce Korean Buddhist Temple life and how I spend time in the temple.

Even some Koreans don't know what happens in the temple. So I want to share what I know about unique temple life.
